Organision Chart
Can organisation chart show employees vertically rather than horizontally? In its current form, it’s impossible to see the whole chart which makes it exremely difficult to work with as it is so wide. It’s not really fit for purpose now as it’s impossible to fit it onto a sheet of paper so can’t be printed.

No this doesn’t solve the problem I’m afraid. The problem is that one manager may have 30 people working for him so if those people are all spread across horizontally then the organisation chart is far too wide. We need a manager’s staff to be listed below them vertically, which is the standard way for an organisation chart to work. If all staff are shown horizontal we will never be able to have a working document. I’m happy to show you our version on Powerpoint if that helps?
We also have 2 companies and need separate charts for each company; this was explained during our original demos and I appreciate that it is a more difficult problem but again, we have been promised it will be looked into.

Hi Jo, Chronicle Version 2 is live (in beta) and the new org chart builder has new layout options - button bottom right on the screen gives you new choices - does this new layout feature help, its supports vertical org charts ?

Thank you Joanne for suggesting and to all who have voted for this feature. I bring exciting news that we are currently in the process of redesigning the entire Chronicle Online system from the ground up with a brand new user interface. As part of this, we will be rebuilding the organisation chart from scratch - so watch this space, we will endeavour to incorporate your suggestion and make the new version more customisable!

Yes, this feature is already available; you can change the orientation of the org chart when publishing.

Thank you, I know I can change the orientation and I have done that, the problem is that, if a manager has 30 people reporting to them, they are all shown horizontially, which, coupled with every other manager with multiple people reporting to them, makes the chart extremely wide. It would be far better if we could have the top level of managers horizontal, with their subordinates underneath them vertically. We do this at present using Powerpoint.
