We’ve added a new integration with Microsoft Outlook to make absence management even smoother.

When enabled, any holidays, sickness, or absences recorded in Chronicle will automatically appear in your Outlook calendar. This ensures your diary is always up to date without the need for manual entry.

The sync runs every 5 minutes, so changes in Chronicle are reflected quickly in Outlook. You stay in control — the link can be switched on or off at any time.

This integration helps keep you, your team, and your wider organisation aligned, with a single view of availability across Chronicle and Outlook.

We’re excited to introduce a much-requested improvement to document management within employee records!

What’s new?
You can now drag and drop multiple files directly into an employee’s record to upload them all at once — no need to use the single-file upload button repeatedly.

How it works:

  • Simply select multiple files from your computer.

  • Drag and drop them onto the employee’s document upload area.

  • All files will begin uploading simultaneously, saving you time and effort.

We’ve just made Chronicle Online’s monthly calendar view even smarter.

The start of the week shown in the calendar now aligns with your organisation’s selection in Company Settings. Whether your working week begins on Monday, Sunday, or even Wednesday, the calendar view will now reflect it — making it easier to interpret time off, shifts, and activity summaries at a glance.

📍 Where to Set It

Go to:
Toolbox> Company Settings > Start of Week
Choose the day that best suits your working patterns.

✅ Why It Matters

  • More intuitive calendar layouts

  • Clearer visibility across shift-based, non-standard, or international working patterns

  • A more personalised experience across Chronicle Online

We're excited to announce the launch of UserView integration in Chronicle Online — a powerful new tool designed to give our support team the ability to guide and assist users in real-time.

🧭 What is UserView?

UserView is a secure remote support tool that lets our support desk view what you're seeing in Chronicle Online (with your permission) and guide you interactively through complex tasks, system navigation, and troubleshooting.

✅ Key Benefits:

  • Faster issue resolution — no more back-and-forth emails.

  • Step-by-step guidance while you're using the system.

  • Safe and secure — we can only see your screen with your consent, and you remain in full control of the session.

🔒 Your Privacy Matters

UserView is GDPR-compliant. We cannot:

  • Access your system without your approval

  • Control your device without your consent

  • See anything outside Chronicle Online (unless you provide explicit consent)

💬 How to Start a Session

When speaking with our support team, simply click the grey ‘computer screens’ icon in the bottom left of the screen and provide your 4-digit code to our support agent.

We’ve made it easier to view detailed work records directly from the Pegboard.

🔍 Simply click the status icon (not the employee name) to drill into their Work Record — where you can view start and end times for shifts at a glance.

This improvement speeds up how quickly you can identify and investigate attendance issues, missing punches, or anomalies.

📅 Filter by company, date, and employee status using the options on the left to keep your view focused and relevant.

👀 Keep an eye out for red triangle icons – these indicate employees who need your attention.

If you have any feedback or suggestions, don’t forget to check out our development roadmap in the bottom left corner.

Chronicle Online now flags when employees clocked in earlier than expected — helping you monitor patterns and manage schedules more effectively.

🆕 What’s New?

We’ve introduced a "Clocked In Early" exception. This is triggered when:

  • An employee clocked in before their scheduled start time by a configurable threshold.

⚙️ Customisable Settings

The new exception respects how early is considered “too early” using existing zoned and point rounding configurations.

✅ Why It Matters

  • Spot trends of early arrivals that may affect work patterns or payroll

  • Ensure accurate tracking of paid vs. unpaid time

  • Avoid early shift starts that haven’t been authorised

You asked — we listened.

Chronicle Online's Bulk Editor now supports region-specific bank holidays within the UK. Previously, only English bank holidays could be added, but now you can choose the correct holidays based on where your employees are located.

🆕 What’s New?

The "Add bank holidays" section now includes a new Country dropdown. When bulk-adding holidays, you can now select:

  • England and Wales

  • Scotland

  • Northern Ireland

Simply pick a year, choose a country, and click Add — the correct holidays for that region will be assigned to the selected employees.

💡 Why This Matters

  • Ensures employees in Scotland and Northern Ireland receive the correct public holidays.

  • Helps organisations stay regionally compliant.

  • Eliminates manual corrections or missed holidays.

This enhancement helps Chronicle Online support all parts of the UK more accurately. 🌍

Released: 14 May 2025

To reduce manual admin and ensure accurate records, Chronicle Online now automatically handles future holidays when an employee's leaving date is entered.

✅ What’s New?

When a leaving date is added to an employee's record:

  • All holidays scheduled after that date will now be automatically cancelled.

  • This ensures the employee’s holiday balance is correct and prevents unnecessary approvals or adjustments.

🧠 Why This Matters

  • Saves time for HR and admin teams.

  • Prevents accidental over-allocation of leave.

  • Keeps absence records consistent and compliant.

This update is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline offboarding processes in Chronicle Online.

May 14th, 2025

Released: 14 May 2025

We’ve introduced a smarter, more user-friendly session timeout experience in Chronicle Online to help you stay secure—without losing your place.

🔐 What’s New?

  1. Session Timeout Warning
When your session is about to expire due to inactivity, a clear pop-up will appear with a countdown and two actions:

    • Continue Working – keep your session active.

    • Logout – end your session securely.

  2. Return to Where You Left Off
If your session does time out, don’t worry. After logging back in, the system will now return you directly to the page you were on—no more getting dropped back to the homepage.

🖼 What It Looks Like

As shown in the image, your screen will dim and display a centred dialog when nearing timeout, giving you the chance to stay logged in with a single click.
