Highlighting in self service

When highlighting a period in the calendar to submit a request, could the highlighted colour be made darker or more prominent?

At the moment, the highlighting doesn't stand out very well, which can make it quite confusing to see exactly which period has been selected. A stronger contrast would make the selected period much clearer for users.
