Chronicle Updates: July 2026

July was a big month for holidays — amend a booking instead of cancelling and re-booking it, and put cancellations in front of a manager before cover is released. Alongside that: a new weekly flexitime view, bulk overtime reasons, pro-rata entitlements in the Bulk Editor, and document sign-off for visitors.

New features

  • Amend a holiday as a manager or admin — change an existing absence's category, type, duration or custom times straight from the Work Record dialog, instead of deleting it and booking it again. Every entitlement, blackout, threshold and lock check is re-run on save, and a pending request stays pending. Chronicle v1 for now; coming to the new Chronicle soon.

  • Amend your own holiday from Self-Service or the mobile app — pick a booking from the holiday list or calendar and change its type, category or duration in one action. A holiday still awaiting approval is updated directly; an already-approved holiday sends an amendment request to the manager, and the original booking stays in force until they decide. Chronicle v1 for now; coming to the new Chronicle soon.

  • Holiday cancellations can now require manager approval — a new company setting. With it switched on, an employee cancelling an approved holiday raises a cancellation request instead of the holiday disappearing on the spot: the booking stays in place (and cover stays committed) until a manager approves or declines it, and the manager actions it from the Holiday Requests screen. Off by default, so nothing changes unless you turn it on. Chronicle v1 for now; coming to the new Chronicle soon.

  • Flexitime Weekly Breakdown — a new read-only panel on the employee's Flexitime tab showing one week at a time: worked against contracted hours day by day, how far the balance moved each day, and the running balance as it builds through the flexi period, plus carry-forward and adjustments. Managers get it for anyone they can open; employees get their own through Self-Service.

  • Assign overtime reasons in bulk — tick any number of rows on the Manage Overtime screen, press the new button and set the reason for all of them at once, on both the daily and the weekly/fortnightly/monthly grids. No more opening records one at a time before you can authorise them.

  • Pro-rata holiday entitlements in bulk — a new Pro-Rata button in the Bulk Editor works out each selected employee's entitlement from their own start and leaving dates, and tells you who was skipped and why.

  • Visitor document sign-off — flag any company document as requiring visitor acknowledgement, and it appears on the Visitor app sign-in form as a mandatory "I've read and accept…" tick box. Visitors can open the document from the form, sign-in is blocked until everything is accepted, and what they accepted is recorded against the visit.

  • Company Notes in the new Chronicle — the feature is now available in V2 as well as v1.

Smaller improvements and UI updates

  • Employee App — better holiday booking experience: a confirmation when you save, no holiday type pre-selected for you, and a clear message for every rejection — including when only one day inside the range you picked is unavailable.

  • Employee App — shift code shown on the timesheet.

  • Employee App — camera flash for clock-in photos, so night-time pictures actually come out. Off by default.

  • Self-Service — search box on the Cost Centre and Activity selectors, for getting through long lists quickly.
